We are designing a new top menu for our site and are having a problem getting the search input field aligned close to the same in Firefox & IE7. In Firefox the field is at the top of the menu, but in IE7 the field is close to the middle. If I us padding or margin to move the search field to the middle in Firefox then it moves to the bottom in IE7. Here is a link of the test menu to check out.

I don't see a noticeable difference - have you fixed it?

Sorry, should have posted that I found a way to fix it. Anyway I have scrapped this one and am working on a leftside menu instead. Thanks for the reply.

Hello hhsign,

Could I ask how you managed to fix the alignment issue before you moved away? I have the same problem with the search bar on my homepage www.landmarq.co.uk

In IE it jumps about half inch up out of line with the checkout line but in Firefox it sits where it should in line. I tried a few fixes around the net but none seemed to work.

Thanks in advance Andy,

I fixed this myself in the end may not be the best way but worked for me, If any one is interested you need to add a style tag into the form similar to below

<form style="display: inline">
...
...
...
</form>

This prevents IE adding a newline at the end of the form which is what causes the alignment issue you should then find you can align it like any other item
