GreyBeard Design Group would like to thank the ProductCart community for another great year, and along with our warmest wishes for a great 2009, we would like to offer you a little gift.
We have created a revised version of the Store Map generator and are offering it as a http://www.greybearddesign.com/ProductCart/ - free download .
We are also inviting Early Impact to take this code, further refine it as they see fit, and make it part of the base code for all to use.
In its stock form, the store map generator produces a static HTML page listing all active categories, subcategories and products. The revised version allows the merchant to identify additional pages, in a manner similar to the current “XML site map generator”, for inclusion in the generated store map. Those pages may be assigned a name consistent with how those pages might be named within your navigation scheme. See http://www.smartbraintech.com/store/pc/catalog/StoreMap.html - http://www.smartbraintech.com/store/pc/catalog/StoreMap.html and http://www.glasssinksonline.com/store/pc/catalog/StoreMap.html - http://www.glasssinksonline.com/store/pc/catalog/StoreMap.html for examples.
The syntax of the available operands is as follows:
{staticlinkstitle:[About Our Site][class="SomeClassName1"]} {staticlinkslocation:[top]} {staticlinkssectiontitle:[Some Section Title][class="SomeClassName2"]} {storelinkstitle[Shop our Store][class="SomeClassName3"]} {opendiv[class="SomeClassName4"]} {closediv} /index.asp[Home] /anotherpage.asp[Another Page]
--staticlinkslocation may be "top" or "bottom" --style references are optional, and may also be in the form of [style="padding:5px;any valid css here"]
So as you can see, one can provide a title for the static links, another title for the shopping links, and subtitles. The "staticlinkslocation" command tells the generator to place the static links above or below the original shopping links. "opendiv" and "opendiv" allows you to insert DIV tags into the string, and all title and div tags allow you to set CSS class names. For those who are comfortable with reading ASP, we made a few notes about where one can set default stylings if a CSS class is not provided.
The version we are releasing today supports the stock PC category and product detail URL format. We will release a version of the SEO-friendly generator in the near future. It is nearly complete but not include some of the new operands which we have just added (subtitles, open/close div).
Please understand that since we are giving this away, the only support we will offer is to repair identified bugs. Anyone who needs help implementing this may hire us for such assistance, but with the included example we believe it will be easy for you to implement yourself. Make a backup copy before installing the provided files (genStoreMap.asp and genStoreMapA.asp), make sure the /pcadmin/importlogs folder has the correct permissions, and that's it. It's ready for use.
So, from Eddie and Tim, Derrick and myself - thanks for 2008 and we look forward to 2009!
