We have a product that we aren't displaying in the store, but people can still order it.  Why can't I get to the product with just the product ID?  I have to use this:

http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516&adminpreview=1 - http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516&adminpreview=1

as opposed to this:

http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516 - http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516

Any ideas????  Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Edit the product and look under "Other Settings" for the Active checkbox, it should be ticked for your customers to be able to see the product.

The product is marked Active.  The category that it is in is not displayed in the storefront.  Could that be the problem??  I can still order the product from this link:

http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516&adminpreview=1 - http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516&adminpreview=1

I just don't understand why I have to have the &adminpreview=1 to view it on the webpage.  Especially since the product is already active.

Thoughts???

Update - I just removed the 'Hide in storefront' tick mark on the category that this product is in...and this link works with that unchecked:

http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516 - http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516

Of course, I had to check the 'Hide in storefront' box again, because we don't want to actively display it in the storefront - we are programmatically linking to it from another page on the site.

Any ideas on how I can get around this??  Thanks.

Hi,
The WIKI is the path to enlightenment (well in this case anyway)  ...

This still doesn't solve my problem.  Once you add this product to the cart, the links don't work to go back and change the selections:

http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516&speciallink=1 - http://www.go-bigtime.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=516&speciallink=1

See what I mean?

Then you may need to add some logic to viewcart.asp.  you would need to determine if and when it is necessary to add "&speciallink=1" to the URL for editing orders.

Ooops - nonsense post deleted - here is it's replacement.....

Hi,
I'm unclear as to why you want this product "hidden" in your site in the first place.
Looking at your store you are not using the default available navigation at all (which is fine).

I suspect a better route to go, if you don't want it found via "viewcategories.asp", would be to amend viewcategories.asp to add code to exlude "Custom Print" from being displayed.

Because it isn't really a print that they can just buy - they are going to be uploading their own images for printing/buying...so it doesn't really belong under the viewCategories page.

I changed the view categories page to exclue custom print.  Works great, thanks for your help!
