Ok i have another proble.

Im exporting products thru the export for reimport feature. When i use the tab option the file is a mess. When I use the comma option it is fine except when i open it in excel it gets rid of all of the zero's that are in the front of my sku numbers and upc numbers. ive tried the other feature and it doesnt work either. any suggestions.

It might be wise if you created new topics since this originally dealt with a graphic design issue.

From the WIKI:
http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/products_import#formatting_the_import_file - http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/products_import#formatting_the_import_file

If you are planning to import complex product descriptions containing HTML code, we strongly recommend that you import an Excel file and NOT a CSV file.

It sounds like you need to switch from tab-delimited or comma-delimited to an XLS file.

Also you need to do this in case you missed it:

Select the SKU column by left clicking on the Column header.
  1. Select the menu item: Data > Text to Columns. The Convert Text to Columns Wizard will be displayed.

I know about how to format it for import. What i need to figure out is how to export the file from the backend as an xls file.

Open the .csv file in Excel and save as .XLS.  Emphasis on XLS and not XLSX or other such new format.

The csv file already took the zero's out of the fields so saving it as an xls doesnt accomplish anything

It's probably time to open a support ticket and discuss this directly with EI.

I usually make sure all my exports save as .txt files... Then open excel and browse for the file.... next it will ask you how the file is delimited and if you want to change the data format of a column.
