Is there a feature built-in to stop people from right-clicking the pictures and saving them?
or do I have to write that into code?
(I know people can still take them in other ways but still)

Hi TruSake, There is, but it is a complete waste of time as it's so trivial to bypass that it really has zero value. A far far superior approach is to watermark the images, although of course it needs to be reasonably discreet or subtle to minimize the impact on the the look of the image. Correction, It's not built in to prevent the right click, but it is easy to achieve. However, it is a complete waste of time implementing it.

There are a number of Javascript routines that will do this. Search the web for "disable right click" and you'll find a bunch. We've used this one before:

Bascially you just add the Javascript code to your header.asp file and when someone clicks the right mouse button, a message is displayed and they can't copy images with theright click.

I use a disable right click from DynamicDrive and have been happy with it. I was a simple script I put in the header.asp file and other html pages on the site. I'm sure it only thwarts the novice internet user, but it does make them go through more steps to copy photos. That said, I haven't figured out how to get around it, so maybe it is tougher than I think or hey, I just a novice, gasp! ...Watermarks are very easy to remove, unless you put them through the entire photo, which looks cheesy. -------------  Curt

Hi Avalight, If someone lifts a couple of images it's probably no big deal. If they decide to lift them wholesale then it's much more of an issue. The only protection against that is watermarks which is why all the stock image sites use watermarks. Here's how easy it is - I'll remove this link in a sec. **********/d-M51526AM-27.jpg Someone who knows what they are doing could grab all the images from your store faster than you can browse the store. I take it back - it doesn't need someone who knows what they are doing. A quick Google for "grab images from website" shows plenty of links to software designed to do just that.
