Subject: Moving database from SQL 2000 TO SQL 2008

Because of speed issues, I have decided to move my ProductCart store from a Win 2003 server to a Win 2008 server with the same service provider. The service provider does not move databases so it is therefore up to me to do this. Questions:
-  can I simply back up my current SQL database, restore it to the new database on the 2008 server and then change the storeconstants file to reflect the new database name or are there other steps involved?
- I currently have a SQL 2000 database but have the option of upgrading to a SQL 2008 server with my new plan. If I decide to go this route, can I simply backup my 2000 database and restore it to the new 2008 database  or will this cause problems?
Any advise prior to starting this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Very informative article. This is exactly the type of info that I needed. I will stay with SQL 2000 for now.
