When a customer is ready to pay, he/she must feel very comfortable at doing this. And here comes a very important issue with PC checkout. We call it “One page checkout”, but truly it is not a “one page” for a customer. A customer fills up ”Billing Information” and clicks on “Continue”. Clicking on “Continue” visually reloads a page. Also, it doesn't really look like a one-page checkout because you go to a different page to enter your credit card information... once you click on continue. It seems like you’re submitting your order already… A lot of people might leave at this step and not put in their credit card info. What would be a good solution for it? Floating pages! All information is visible on ONE PAGE! A customer sees everything (His/her billing information; What is in the shopping cart; Shipping options and cost of shipping; A promotion-discount cod field with apply button; Final balance) for all the time! Which makes him/her feel “Safe” placing an order. To see an example of how it looks, please see checkout at: gap.com.
Having it all visible for a customer on one page makes a completely different level of easy understandable checkout process. And this is extremely important for a merchant when a customer will not walk away at the very last point. We had a previous experience with our old store where having all information visible on one page brought our sales 30% up right after we customized checkout process.
