Hi,
I have a client trying to update a category name to Outdoor Heaters, Outdoor Fireplaces, Cast Iron Chimineas

He is receiving an error "Error in modCatb in Update: "

It seems like it is due to some limitation on the length of the category name.

Does anyone know a way around this?

Thanks,
Alex

A shorter category name :-)
How about 3 categories Outdoor Heaters contining  the other two, or alternatively allthe products that are in the other two.Really long category names just don't work well in menus or from a useability pov.

I had the same error. A more descriptive error message would be great.....

I'm not sure if it's the length.  I am getting the same error and it seems to be that the system suddenly doesn't like punctuation marks (i.e. - "()", ",", "/", "&", etc.).  Length may play a factor, but I've got pre-existing long category names and ones that have punctuation marks that the system still recognizes, but if I try to make a new category or edit an existing category, I'm getting the "Error in modCatb in Update: " error message.

Perhaps a ProductCart patch/update rewrote the files and changed the coding necessary to handle the characters?
