Hi

ProductCart assumes that entered prices include Taxes (VAT in the UK) which is fine for general retail (B2C)

However I want to sell products Business to Business (B2B) in which case I would show prices on the product page (excluding VAT) - but then I want to display the calculated VAT on checkout.

Can someone advise me how ProductCart be configured or modified to do this?

I'm on v3.51 and this area is a bit of a pain.

It's easy enough to show the ex-VAT price on the product details - that's part of ProductCart I recall. You probably want remove the code that shows the inclusive price and change the style on the net price so it's more prominent.

If you are going to raise the invoice straight out of PC then it's a bit more of a job. You will need to find places where the inclusive price is shown and deduct the product VAT to show the net price. You'll also need to check for rounding to ensure your total VAT matches what PC has calculated.

Don't forget the customer view where they can see the price details  - that will need amending too.

The ProductCart default invoice is not technically correct for VAT as it doesn't show the percentage applied.

Thanks for the tips and advice MikeCC. VAT rounding has been a bug bear for me in previous projects!

I've found a way of doing B2B sales in the UK without modifying any code.

All our prices are entered into PC WITHOUT VAT.

We then added a new 'Tax rule by location', set the country to the UK, called it VAT and set the tax to 17.5%.

The countries list is restricted to the UK so this tax rule is always applied. PC cart then adds the VAT to the basket total and it shows up on all the invoices emails etc !!!

Hope that helps.

Hi Dave
Yes , in the end this is what I have also done for my client - by using the custom tax option. There must be loads of B2B companies out there that need to enter prices net of VAT. I think EarlyImpact should make this a standard functional feature in ProductCart
