Hi Everyone,
I am recently working on a add-on from where admin can order on behalf of customer quickly on phone.
Focus of all functionality is more on the ability to add products quickly to cart and quickly checkout.
I forgot to mention, I have almost completed the script, and working on GUI, I should have it ready in 1-2 days.
Any suggestions for features?
Regards, Sawan

Hi,
Sorry guys for a long break. Here is an update to the mod.
This is what i expect will happen:
1. potential Customer calls 2. admin asks for a product to order, and search for it (frame 1) 3. result is showed on right side (frame 2) 4. quantity box can be filled and click on add to cart 5. the page on top (frame 3) will be refreshed with the added items in cart 6. When you click on checkout button on top frame, the usual checkout process begins and can be talked over phone to place an order 7. anytime in between checkout, if a new product needs to be added, Frame 1 and Frame 2 will still remain to provide this facility.
This can be used in call centers to place orders.

Looks really good! A couple notes...
1. You'll need to be careful what step of the checkout your in if you try to add more products to the cart. If you're at or beyond shipping, you would need to jump back to that step to have correct shipping calculated.
2. If the more details button in Frame 2 is pressed, would the product display in that frame? (Its pretty small). If it opens in a new window you'll need to be careful about the user clicking Add To Cart from the new window.
3. Is there a header or footer that allows a user to navigate to other sections of the control panel?

Thanks. Actually when someone adds product to cart when the checkout process is at shipping, he will be pulled back to the cart page and then proceed. The customer would be logged in by that time so no need to enter those details again.

It will open in new window

Header and footer can be given, but it would take a lot of space, so i am planning this to take up the full screen for easy of use.

Do you think this can be helpful?

Its looks like it would be helpful to some merchants if they do high volume of call center orders. We don't have anyone who has ever asked for something like this.

Sawan,
I could use some functionality like this. I get plenty of orders by phone which I typically just enter in same as a customer would on the website front end. It would be nice to have a simple admin interface to locate products, add them to the cart, calculate shipping and tax and produce a final quote on screen to verbalize to the customer, in addition you could continue on and enter your customer information, then be emailed the quote or submit as an order after grabbing credit card/payment details.
Nevertheless, the idea is a good one and I would certainly benefit from it.
Let me know when it's debugged and ready to go.
Thanks,
Jeff G

This sounds like an interesting behavior from the admin area. I would be interested to test it out & evaluate it in my store also if you wish.

taking on extra staff to deal with high volume traffic and calls over
holiday periods is ifficult to manage at the best of times so any help
to simplify the telephone ordering process is to be welcomed. Even with
the first rate back end customisation of productcart some of our temp
staff are a little daunted by a myriad of menus and options.
this is an excellent project Sawan, good job fella!

You might consider putting Frame 1 at the bottom, so that it flows logically.

Hi Everyone,
I have added one more feature in admin section to make the add-on user friendly.
This mod can be launched from the admin area and search for a client, then place an order for that client. You will find a new link just like in screen 1 below.
Example: Cust A calls company rep R to make a purchase over the telephone. Rep R goes into the admin area, selects the customer or creates a new one, then uses the mod to fill the cart, then go to checkout. The mod know/remember the login credentials to proceed with the order.
Long story short, the mod can work from user as well as from admin area both serving the same purpose.
Thanks to dcunningham for the suggestion.
I am ready to launch the mod now.
Regards, Sawan

Hello Sawan. As you know, this mod had some interest from me and I was happy to see that you moved it to market. However, I did mention to you that a very tedious debugging was needed before it went public and I'm sorry to say that I wish you had taken my advice on that. Here's why, and hopfully you'll be able to get these bugs worked out before long and then I'll be able to possibly re-purchase it from you. For now, I'd like to request a refund for the reasons listed hereafter.
1) The add to cart function on the search results frame, works, however, the cart frame doesn't display the cart. The frame turns from grey to white, but there isn't any data output/displayed. See the images I submitted. Ist one is the mod before selecting a product. The second is after placing a numeric value for the quantity of a product and clicking the 'add to cart' button.
2) Hitting the refresh button in the cart page will hide all text in the search results frame.
3) After exiting out of the mod page, going back to the admin page, selecting a different customer, clicking on the phone order link, the old cart contents will display.
4) When the phone operator is finished shopping for the telephone customer and clicks checkout, the mod should return to a full size screen, instead of scrolling the whole checkout page inside that little frame.
These bugs were discovered after only 60 minutes of trying to adjust the code to make it work.
Thank you and good luck as you fix these areas of concern (bugs)! :)
Please honor my request for the refund and I'll be happy to assist you in anyway I can to help make this a viable product for you.
Regards,
DC

Hi,
I appreciate you your kind words.
However we do provide FREE installation support also, so if any bugs are found we would like to review it to help you out solving it.
Can you please send FTP details of the site so i can review and see why it is not working? I am sure it will work fine as it has worked here.
I would definately refund you, if the mod does not work fine. But I would appreciate if you can give it a try and let me see it.

Hello,
The server is controlled by my clients IT department and they have denied me your request. In all fairness, the installation of the files is pretty easy, change code in two files and 'copy these 10 or more files to the 'pc' directory' , you'll have to admit its pretty hard to mess that up! Anyway, the installtion went fine, there is nothing for you to check there. The problem is in the way the data is transferred from one frame to the other. The purchase page says that you charge $10 or so for installation fee, without any phone support, only email.
My clients system is very standard in its configuration and your mod should not have to be tweaked at all in order to work. A default installation of IIS that is running the cart software just fine shouldn't need any intervention by the software designer in order to run (just my two cents).
I've removed the mod and the files from the system. Thank you for the refund. I'll be expecting the notice soon from Paypal. Let me know when you get the bugs worked out, I'd be interested in purchasing a version that has been properly beta tested and is ready to be released for sale.

Well Sawan, you made this lemon into lemonaid. Your new version of the files worked just as the demo did. Thanks for taking the time to fix this and get it working. The way you handled this problem gives me a lot of confidence in purchasing future work from you. Good luck on this and have a great day.

Does it work with Build to order version of PC. I am interested in ordering this, but I have done lots of customizing so I wanted to know if there are lot of files under the pc folder which needs to be modified.
Thanks

The biggest problem with this mod is that once a new customer is added, you actually have to search for them again before getting to the link for the phone order. Is there a way to make a button from the new customer entry page that will open the phone order mod?
