Hello,

I guess this is more of a question for developers, but do you have any plans to integrate Bill Me Later ( http://www.billmelater.com - www.billmelater.com ) as one of the payment options? It seems to be getting rather popular...

Thank You!

Hi mx22,

We would love for ProductCart merchants to be able to use Bill Me Later, but the problem is that there is a pretty hefty revenue requirement that makes most small business ecommerce Web sites ineligible for it.

Specifically, as of today (October 2010), a merchant must have $20M in annual sales to be eligible for consideration to offer Bill Me Later as a payment option.

Due to this requirement, it does not make sense for us to integrate Bill Me Later into ProductCart at this time.

Quite foolish to set such restriction.  I would think differently if I were the CFO.
Perhaps there are legal issues that make them think it is better to stick to the big guys.  Perhaps they think that larger companies sell products that have some repossession value in case of a default in payment.  Thanks for the info about the bill me later requirement, because I was thinking about that for my site down the road.

Thanks a lot for the answering my question. No wonder I could not find any meaningful information on how to join Bill Me Later.

I know PayPal has what I think is called "Recurring Payments". One of its features is more or less essentially the same thing - customers can choose to stretch their payments over a period of time. Any chance to have this integrated into the ProductCart? Or is there something already in ProductCart that would allow to collect payment from customers over a period of time?

Thank You!

Yes, you could certainly do that by leveraging with our new SubscriptionBridge https://www.subscriptionbridge.com - subscription billing system .

Specifically, this is what you will do:
  1. In SubscriptionBridge: you will create a subscription "package" with a set duration (e.g. 6 monthly payments)
  2. In ProductCart: you will activate the connection to your new SubscriptionBridge account and associate a product with that subscription package.
  3. When customers purchase that product on your ProductCart-powered store, a 6-month payment plan will be setup via SubscriptionBridge.
  4. SubscriptionBridge will then help you manage the subscription, doing things such as sending out notifications when payments are successfully processed, automatically following up with the customer if a payment fails, etc.
Check out a list of https://www.subscriptionbridge.com/paypal-recurring-payments-subscription-management.asp - subscription management features that SubscriptionBridge adds to PayPal recurring payments .
