I am not sure if this issue has been addressed before, my searches have found nothing. We take a large number of phone orders. When we use the Control Panel to enter a new account and then click "Place Order" for that customer, a new browser tab opens in Firefox at our store and we are logged in as that account to place the order. When we complete the order, we close the tab, and wait for another customer to call in. With the next customer, we do the same thing and we find that when we go to the storefront again, we will either be logged in as the previous account, or be asked to login again, or get an error message. The only fix for us is to close the browser altogether and reopen it, find the account again and click place order.
Does anyone else have this happen? Is there a fix that I am not aware of? Are there settings in my Firefox browser that I have set wrong?

This should definitely not be happening. In recent versions of ProductCart, the "Place Order" links in the Control Panel use the file "adminPlaceOrder.asp" to clear all sessions before redirecting to the storefront.
Which version are you using?

Unless the store is using an incorrect version of "adminPlaceOrder.asp" (or a link to place an order in the storefront that does not invoke that file), the behavior described above should not happen.

I've found the same problem. We take phone orders in the same way, and have overcome the problem by logging out of the storefront, when the order is complete. Otherwise adminplaceOrder.asp does not clear the previous customer login.

AdminPlaceOrder.asp clears the customer session:
Unless you are then checking out on a different domain, it is technically impossible that you are still logged in as the customer. Could it be that you are accessing the Control Panel on a different domain? E.g. "www" is missing?

It's the same domain, using the same PC often just a few minutes later. The problem does not occur if a session timeout, say 20 mins, has elapsed. I'm using the latest version of PC. It's a mystery.

@bodyexposed - Placing the order from the control panel should clear your sessions, just the same as logging out in the storefront. I would like to understand the entire process you are going through. Can you open a ticket and provide the exact steps to replicate the issue?

Matt, I will do some tests to confirm that the problem can be replicated.

One of my customers is experiencing the same thing V404 BTO. I checking it out and although it is allowing me to log in as the new customer by using a new window the previous order for the other customer is loaded into the cart which then needs to be cleared. This logs me out of the sesion I was in.
When was the fix put in place? Before ot after V404.
thanks
Nigel

Hi Nigel,
There are actually a couple of different issues here:
- Items are reloaded into the cart: this is because the "Restore Shopping Cart" feature is ON and ProductCart believes that you are a customer returning to the store (since the same browser is being used). This brings up a good point: the Restore Shopping Cart feature should be disabled automatically when you are loading the storefront via the "Place Order" feature from the Control Panel. We'll work on this before the next version is out.
- Customer is logged out when clearing a restored cart: this is an open issue that has not been fixed yet. It is on our "To Do" list. It happens very rarely as in 99% of the cases a customer that sees that message is not currently logged in (it's a customer that is returning to the store, with a new browser session, therefore not logged in). For now, do not use the "Clear Cart" button, but rather view the cart and remove items directly from it.
NOTE: the Restore Shopping Cart feature DOES NOT restore the customer session. The customer session is started because you are using the "Place Order" feature from the Control Panel. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for that.
It should make it manageable until a permanaent fix is available.

My issue still exists and has nothing to do with the restore cart issues although I have had reports of customers being logged out of the system while shopping. How can I clear the sessions in between customer call in orders? Do I have to close the browser completely before starting a new order through the control panel?

We don't know how else to say it : "adminPlaceOrder.asp" clears all sessions. It is technically impossible that the customer session is not cleared.
Please submit a support ticket and tell us exactly which steps you are taking. Something is not right.
If needed, we can set up a conference call and do a screen share so that we see exactly what you are doing.
Of course, prior to that we need to be 100% sure that you are using the same source code that we are looking at.

We are constantly taking phone orders, 99% of which are from new customers. The only issue we ever run into is taking two consecutive orders. When you complete an order and immediately start on another (probably even not immediately), the shipping and billing info is entered from the previous order, whether or not a customer account was created. The easiest way to clear this seems to be to to the customer account home area and pressing logout, or even just going there. It appears to clear the sessions.
The only thing I would like to see is an easier way to generate and send quotes, for example for customers who have not yet created an account.
It would also be nice if it was easier to give custom discounts. Currently we have one guy who is constantly creating custom coupons and as a result our discount area is flooded with all of these one-time-use custom coupons for random amounts off.

For those following this, the problem with Cindy's store is not reflective of a clean unaltered store. Due to very significant mods in her store, which is running 4.04, she is not running the latest code. And it is the 4.1 code that has the latest support for admin-triggered ordering. There's a bit of work to be done here to retrofit that code into her store, and likely a complete 4.5 upgrade this summer.

This is concerning. What version are you using?
