Through testing, we've found that if someone visits our site from "affiliate a", then visits our site from "affiliate b", "affiliate a" will get the sale.
We only have one affiliate, but during testing, I created a test affiliate.  My test order worked as expected.  Today, when testing the link our affiliate had put on their site, I processed the order, but it showed up under my test affiliate.  I verifed that the affiliate's id was correctly in the link.  It was.

I then tried the order on another computer, using the affiliate's link - this one applied correctly.

Has anyone else seen this?

I know that it's rare that one person will reach our site using different affiliates, but it is possible, since our customers are part of a community...

Hi, this is working correctly. If someone visit from affiliate A then they are rightly treated as the affiliate who introduced the new customer. Take a look at the Wiki where the rules about affiliates are documented.

Thanks Hamish.

There are some limitations to that way of thinking, because customers might come from affiliates with different specializations.

If you're on a website for affiliate "B" and they recommend a specific product, and you trust them because they're an instructor, it's too bad they won't get the credit, since you had previously purchased following the ink from an affiliate blogger.

It is what it is though - and we're not really complaining... it's just not "exactly" how we would've done it.  :)

Thanks for the quick reply!
