It would be great if the variable that holds the productcart folder "productcart" also contained the slashes so it can be assigned an empty string and make it easier to add everything from the "productcart" folder to the top level and remove the extra directory.

Additionally the "/pc/" portion of the path should also be handled the same way and added as a variable to make the extra directory optional.

I know promotion is important but it makes URLs in a product cart store uglier than it needs to be.

Hi shamusOmalley,

promotion is definitely not the reason for the category tree to be organized that way. It's a mistake we made many years ago, plain and simple. However, removing the "productcart" directory completely at this time would require too many changes. The same is true for the "pc" folder. There are 859 instances of "pc/" in ProductCart v3, which is why we have not made it a variable yet. It's very time consuming and requires that we alter a large number of files (which always upsets customers that have modified the ProductCart source code and want to update).

Just a suggestion. It can definitely be corrected by a developer and I plan to on the store I am currently working on. I imagine it will however, have the same impact on folks like me who do make the change, as it would on your existing customers if you were to change it. Nightmarish upgrades.

Again, it is just a suggestion and I do appreciate your response.
