I have not ever turned on customer reviews.
Are others using this feature?
I'd love to hear feedback from anyone about the plus and minus of adding customer reviews to the website.
Thanks,
Luke

Lots of merchants use it - IMO, greatest challenge is motivating shoppers to cooperate and actually submit reviews.  Otherwise it sits idle waiting for a bit of customer love.

Thanks for the input Greg.
So if we're not willing to put some effort into working out some kind of incentivizing it won't help us out much.
Good to Know,
Luke

Hi Luke,
If you use a reward points system then these can be used as an incentive for reviewing products. http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/products_reviews#reward_for_reviews%20" rel="nofollow - http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/products_reviews#reward_for_reviews

We don't use customer reviews because we really want to offer them only to customers who have actually purchased our products.  Yes, we can edit (show/not show) but would rather be able to expose this only to customers who have purchased.  We offer a Facebook Like button for those that may not have purchased but want to like/comment on our Facebook page.

Swaynenewton,
Good point on reviews. I hadn't realized that a non-buyer would potentially be able to review and item.
We are more brick and mortar than web store, but I'm thinking I'll test it out on a couple brands that we are pushing hard in the web store.
Your site looks nice. Are you having success with the rewards program?
I like what you have going there.
Thanks,
Luke

Luke,

We just turned on reward points at the beginning of this year but the feedback from our customers has been very good.  We also send a monthly email that highlights their accrued points.  We have set our reward points as 1 point for each dollar spent and each point has a $.05 redemption value on a future order so they end up with a 5% credit towards a future order.  We have a relatively high-margin product set as we make/manufacture our products and sell exclusively through our site.

We have been using ProductCart since 2007 and have been very pleased.  Our only glitches have come in the form of US Postal service connector updates that seem to screw up our shipping until EI comes up with a patch each year.  Wish this was a bit more proactive but other than that - awesome product.
