Topic: Javascript disabled checkout

Subject: Javascript disabled checkout

I launched my new store and found out that 30% of my users can't use the checkout because there browsers don't support javascript.

Is there a mod or a way to modify the code so these users can checkout using Authorize.net.

I know the code is heavy with jquery ajax, is this available or can someone point me in the right direction.

I am about to start this project, and it seems almost impossible to convert the checkout to just forms that posts.

Any insight would be helpful.

Many user can get all the way to the end, where the submit orderplace order button, but it doesn't work without javascript.  How hard is it to convert this to a form that posts.

What is the demographic profile of your customers?  I deal with a large number of stores and have simply never encountered a scenario where some significant number of shoppers had JS turned off.

As for your question, I'll defer to EI, but I don't see how that's possible.  There just too much JS driving OPC to make it work without JS enabled.

80% outside US and analytics shows the ones with JS disabled is: Iphone, Ipod, Safari, IE

yes, very odd.

You think it could be possible to convert to forms, I have somewhat of a budget?

I would not even attempt to convert OPC to forms.  Would become too difficult and costly to carry the mods from version to version, not to mention the occasional patches that might be issued by Early Impact.

Instead I would encourage you to implement EI's mobile storefront, since 2 of the above references point to phones.  The install takes minutes, other than what it might take to tailor the site to your design.

Also I would put messaging on the checkout notifying users that JS is required.

May I ask for your URL to see what your site looks like?

For the benefit of current and prospective purchasers of ProductCart, I looked at this site.  PPC works for a client who required very extensive alterations of the checkout.  Reported issues are unrelated to stock functionality as they have so heavily altered the checkout process it is essentially unrecognizable as being ProductCart.

Good luck with your project Joe.

If you get a lot of mobile user traffic then consider the Mobile add-on.
AFAIK Pretty much all ecommerce software would require Javascript enabled to function correctly. The 30% figure seems more than a little unusually high, although the profile for every store will vary of course.
