Hi, I'm composing an email to send to our customers, and would like a link that works for both mobile devices and traditional computers.

I want people to go here to register for workshops:
https://shop.rings-things.com/cart/pc/R-T-40th-Anniversary-Event-Classes-Aug-10-11-c5100.htm
but the mobile re-routing sees the "pc" and sends them to to the generic viewcategories page (https://shop.rings-things.com/cart/m/viewcategories.asp) instead of the classes.

I'm trying to avoid having 2 links - one for traditional users and one for mobile users. But so far the only link I can find that works for the mobile users is:
https://shop.rings-things.com/cart/m/showsearchresults.asp?idcategory=5100

I tried putting in
https://shop.rings-things.com/cart/pc/showsearchresults.asp?idcategory=5100 to see if that worked for both, but that just sent the mobile users to the
https://shop.rings-things.com/cart/m/search.asp page instead.

Help!

I have an idea about an approach that could be used to overcome this, but it will involve custom code.

They seem identical other than the "/m/" and the "/pc/" so it would be ideal if product cart could handle this transparently to the users (on both sides: admin and our customers).

I think we maintain a short list of exceptions to what is considered mobile devices and not, because we had some customers with tablets that were annoyed they were redirected to the mobile version.  So far that part is working well.

Want to send me a PM with an estimate of $ / amount of work the custom option would entail?

Hi,
I recommend also putting a link to the full version in the header of the mobile version (and vica versa). Automatic redirection can only go so far and customers may well WANT to see/use the alternative version of the store.

Thanks - I just checked, and we do have that link in the m/viewcategories.asp page.
But it looks like it's just another category, so I might want to add it to the footer and/or make it more obvious that the page you're arrived at IS the mobile site.
