Hi,

I have moved my store to a VPS server, after migrating I get the following error.

"Source: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0
Description: Invalid object name 'pcCatPromotions'.
query=SELECT POrder FROM categories_products WHERE idCategory=5;"

The control panel is working fine. The domain DNS is updated to the new server and is effective.

Turns out there are some issues in the control panel, can view orders no problem, but cant access general setting page or edit product page.

I created the database and restored it using a backup file from the old server database.

It is connecting to the database and displaying orders etc.

it seems that you will need someone to go look at the site and the database. I can't think of how I, for example, might even begin to overcome this simply via the forum.

Hi Greg,

Would you just require FTP access at this stage or access to the Plesk Parallels control panel as well?

I would like you to attend to this for me.

I am confused as why this issue persists as I followed instructions for moving product cart.

You can email direct via grant@austcoldindustries.com.au

Invalid object name 'pcCatPromotions'. means that your connection string points to a database missing that entire table.  Seems like the database you restored was an old database.

Hi Matt,

No it is the correct database, I have backed up from old server , created new one in new server and restored it using the file twice. Same result.

It is showing the correct orders to date in the control panel.

Grant.

The error you are showing means it needs a table that is not in your database.  If the database is the same, then you must be using newer files without running a database update.  If you tell me the files are the same, then I would say that this error must have been there before you moved.

Should all be the same,

I used FileZilla to FTP all files to my pc and then FTP them to the new server.

Used the backup feature in the control panel to backup and download database.
Then created new database with same name and restored using the backup.

However when it restored I got an error advising,

"The database was restored successfully but some users require your attention."

Grant, I replied to you by e-mail. Perhaps Matt is going to be able to help. If not, get me the details I discussed in my e-mail.

Thanks Greg,

Thought I should look into Mat's explanation of the error.

I found that he is correct in that the DB Table is not there. I also checked this in the old server and found it was also missing there.

Somehow the store has been functioning on the old server without it, and even though I am using the same files it now requests the DB Table. I know this sounds unlikely but it has been.

Can anyone confirm what other DB Tables where added to the Database and in what upgrade release it was added.

I have decided to get Greg to take care of this as he is can attend to this promptly for me, and there is some urgency to this.

This appears to be resolved. Database users with insufficient permissions owned a variety of tables within the db. Additionally, many tables were duplicated. I re-assigned ownership of the unique tables and deleted the empty duplicate tables. And for newbies who think this sounds hard and complicated, I'll share with you that I still recall those days when I would have had no imagination for what this all means. It keeps one humble to remember what a long learning curve some of this can be. Happy Sunday.
