Subject: Sale Items for Certain Dates

I wish to have certain items go on sale for a set amount of days. I want to be able to select the items, sale prices, and dates they will be effective. Can I do this with ProductCart? I know I can put items on Special, but I don't see a way to temporarily change the pricing, etc. Please advise

This is currently not a feature supported by ProductCart the the way that you need. You would have to setup Discounts filtered by Product, that are automatically applied when the customer checks out.

Is this something maybe in a future release? This would be a great asset to anyone who wants to put certain products, categories, etc. on sale at certain times of the year.

Yes, this is acutally something that we are considering for a future version, but there is no immediate time frame for this.

Was this feature ever added? I searched the Wiki on "sale price" and didn't see anything that looked like date-based sale prices. This is a type of promotion we often do, and we would like to know if this feature is available before switching our shopping cart to PC.

Hi Brian,
There are date based "Discount by Code" (vouchers) which cover the required functionality.
In addition ProductCart has features to allow mass price changes to be easily applied.
In V4 we also introduced much improved support for promotions. These are all covered in the marketing section of the WIKI.

Hi Brian - adding to Hamish's post... we originally hoped to add this capability to ProductCart v4. This "Sale Manager" would allow the store owner to quickly create store-wide or category-wide sales, without changing product prices. Unfortunately however, we ran out of time to squeeze it in before the release date, and have moved it back to our internal development "wish list". Since it does come up fairly often among our customer base, there is a good chance that it will make it into a future release (but we cannot make any promises).
