I am setting up a fresh start in QB. I imported my products from PC to QB but when I import orders (as sales receipts) I get an error stating that an account is not associated with an item and I discover new products have been created in QB which are services, not inventory items.

Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong and how to fix it?

Make sure that you have throughly followed all the instructions in setting up your company in QuickBooks. There are a number of "items" that are required to be added so that the mapping invoices from ProductCart to QuickBooks is a smooth one.
