Forgive the newbie question but how can i change the colours of the text in 'customer account' box and how do i change the yellow background colour of the box?

Almost any style change will be handled by modifying something in one of four main files: header.asp, footer.asp, pcHeaderFooter.css and pcStoreFront.css. In your case the styles are in pcHeaderFooter.css.
