This is all new for us after grabbing a copy of the new V4 storefront code... but we have a client that is using the new store and everything is working ok at this point.
The issue we are running into is that we have the small shopping cart displayed on every page at the top of the page... but when the buyer goes to checkout and goes to the one page checkout page the small shopping cart at the top doesn't display any information anymore. Anyone have experience with this... is it possible to make it still display information even on the one page checkout? Thanks in advance. Edited by g2designgroup - 26-February-2010 at 2:31pm |

The small cart is hidden because tax, shipping, discounts are applied at checkout using AJAX. The small shopping cart would not be updated with the price changes. There is also an order total and full details already shown on that page so the information is redundant.

True... but how do users make changes to the items within the cart without having to click the back button? The small shopping cart allowed just a nice easy area for users to go back and view the cart contents and modify quantities and items.
The one page checkout does not allow for this. |

Most shopping carts have a link "View Cart" within their main navigation. It has not come up before now. Would that be an option for you?

Yeah, it just seems redundant to have a view cart link with the small shopping cart also being displayed throughout the site at all times and than on this one page requiring users to now go a different route to get "back" to the cart. This will have to do for now, but there should be an "edit" option on the 1 page checkout because this seems to be a topic raised to us from the client that users can get "lost" on the one page checkout to modify quantities of an item if they messed up.
Not a big deal, still love the shopping cart and will just make due, just enjoyed all the previous versions abilities to allow a user to always go back and modify cart contents all the way up until they hit the credit card screen. Just really user friendly. Hopefully an edit button/link on the Order Details at the very bottom will be implemented in future releases... but than again we may be the only ones requesting it. Keep up the good work! Edited by g2designgroup - 26-February-2010 at 2:52pm |

Thanks for your feedback.
(a) This behavior was the same in v3. The Order Preview page in that version (orderVerify.asp), did not have a link to "Edit Quantities" either. (b) We cannot remember receiving other requests for this feature. It's certainly a legitimate request, but it does not seem to have created concerns among merchants and their customers. Otherwise we would have received other requests for changes. That said, you are right that the system could be improved to make it more clear how to "Edit Quantities" during checkout. This can certainly be added to the order preview area of the One Page Checkout system. The customer can be taken back to the shopping cart at that point. We are adding this to our internal development Wish List. |

Honestly just a simple "View Cart" or "Edit Cart" link would seriously be just enough to make it clear to a user that they could go back and modify not only the quantities but also the items within the cart.
Either way, we will just add this link on this store for the client and the issue is resolved, just thought I would mention it. Thanks again for the feedback. Take care! |
