Hi, I am selling organic food products and one of the requirements for being organic is to have the lot number of each product added to the customers purchase. Is there any way to have this managed in Productcart? In other words when a customer make an online purchase, the sales receipt shows the quantity, price and the lot number (a series of numbers and letters) in the desciption field of that specific product.
Also, when a new shipment is purchased, the lot number will need to change in the database to reflect the new inventory.

Hi John,
The only way I can see that you could do this is to clone the product each time you receive a shipment and change the lot number. The problems you will face then are :- a) You have a lot more maintenance & your database will grow rapidly. b) Your customers will be presented with a choice of two or more "lots" and will choose the newest one- leaving you with the old stock. c) Stock control - making sure you ship the correct lot number of each product to the client. The simplest solution IMHO is to print a pick list for the Productcart order and write on that the lot numbers as you pick them. |
