    Posted: 11-July-2009 at 2:48pm
Can somebody direct me to where I can find the CSS style for the subnavigation that is generated by the storefront and automatically driven through inc_catsmenu.asp? I set the styles for #pcLeftCatLinks which is fine for my first level but I want to change the font size and style for the sublevel that drops down. Where do I find the tag that allows me to set the style? Also, I want to eliminate the drill down arrows. How do I do that?

Thanks!

Hi Laura,

On the generate navigation screen there is a prompt for a CSS class.  If you specify that, and match the name to a class you have defined in your CSS file, that should accomplish your first goal.

The second isn't quite that easy.  in the PCADMIN folder you will find gencatnavigation.asp.  You will need to edit that file.

I can't be sure that this is the only change needed, but a quick review of a site where I did just what you are asking reveals that I commented out the following statement.

'        pcv_strTmpCat=pcv_strTmpCat & "<img align=""absmiddle"" name=""IMGCAT" & tmp_IDCAT & """ border=""0"" src=""images/btn_expand.gif"" onclick=""javascript:UpDown(" & tmp_IDCAT & ");"">"

That may work, may not.  If it doesn't and you want this done for you, please contact me directly.

Thanks for your reply Greg. Unfortunately it didn't work. I'll keep you in mind though if I can't solve this on my own.

If anyone is interested, one of the mods we are working on is to replace the table generation PC uses for left navigation with proper CSS driven unordered lists. This is more contempory web standards and much better for SEO.

Hi Sean,

Yes very interested in that.

I'm forever having to modify the menus for my customers.

Thanks for the nudge, Lora.

We've got so many mods and add-ons in the crucible right now I'm starting to lose track of some, maybe.

I consider this an absolute must, and a few sites on the launching pad that we won't launch without this, so I'm gonna kick this up in the queue.

PM me if you'd like me to notify you when it's ready, or keep an eye on http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/widgets/thirdparty/thirdparty, or better yet, follow us on Twitter:

You can style the navigation menu yourself by simply using your own CSS and specifying which class file the menu should use.

If you do this make sure you don't use the pcheaderfooter.css stylesheet. Then you won't have any of the problems caused by the built in CSS class files.
