Hello all
Im pretty new to this, being in i have never coded anything to do with this shopping cart, plus to be honest im pretty hesitant to even try.
Anyway here it goes..
We need a few products that when they are added to the shopping cart a a list comes up, the client must then select certain options from this list and an email must get sent to myself and the person that was selected on the list notifying us that the specific selection has been made.
Any help at all would be most welcome, as i have no idea as to where to even start and am not a programer.
Have asked companys to help, but they are giving me rediculous prices to get this done, saying it requires masive ammounts of code to work.
Thanks in advance
Josh

Hi,
Not sure I entirely understand your requirement - but it seems to match, mostly,  existing functionality in ProductCart.

You can add options to Products, even several sets of options and, when the order is processed  an email is sent out with  details of all the options etc. To have the email sent to different people depending on the options would take some custom coding - OR, alternatively, just add rules in your  email program to  forward the  order email depending on the text - simple, free & avoids amending the code. If you want to guarantee the emails are forwarded stright away (independent of you checking emails) then you could do the same with, say, a GMAIL email address.
IF you want the customer to be able to get a quote  before ordering, which I'm guessing may be a requirement, then you will  need the BTO version of ProductCart - I've NOT used the quoting feature, so check the manual as to exactly how it works, if you need it.

Ok sounds good so far. How do i actually assign options to specific product?
Been fiddling but dont see anything concrete....
For example when i client chooses a product and adds it to cart, he has to select from a list of dealers before he can continue (we need to cut some dealers in on our sales) then the dealer and i get an email saying so and so has taken place. At the end of the month we check our emails and pay the dealers their cut according to the emails that came through....
Thanks for the reply thus far

This sounds more like Affiliate sales, I assume you have investigated that feature & it doesn't suit for whatever reason. I'm also assuming this is not "drop shipping", which also has specific code in ProductCart (especially as it seems each product could be associated with multiple dealers).

To add options to a specific product first create the option group and then add it to the products that you need this for. You can set  the option to be required if you wish.

This can be done from the "Products" part of the admin menu.

Hey
Thanks for all the help
I have added the affiliates group and there is now a little drop down list next to the product where i can get them to choose a dealer from.... Tell me, is there anyway i can make it compulsory for them to choose from one of those options?

No problem,
There's a tickbox for "Required Option" bottom left of the list in the screen for options of the product
Note - this is at the individual product level & not in the screen where you create the option groups.

I dont know if im going blind, or if i have an old version or something but i dont see that tickbox.
Must i go into the actual product itself?
when i go into the product itself i have the following main headings per category: Name, SKU and description, Prodcut prices, product images,Additional Product Views, Categories, Inventory Settings, Other Settings, Meta Tags, Downloadable Product Settings, Gift Certificate Settings i dont see it anywhere there.
Could you guide me a little further please
Thanks mate
