Hi! I just upgraded our store from 3.05 to 3.11 to 3.51 in preparation for upgrading to 4.0.... and noticed after installing the 3.51 upgrade that the size of the text in the Control Panel got a LOT SMALLER. I tried using the tool in my browser to change the text size, but it doesn't seem to have any affect on the Control Panel whatsoever.
Is there anything built into Product Cart that I could easily modify to make the text larger? I know NOTHING about writing code in anything but HTML, but have managed to modify some of the text strings in files like languages.asp without mucking up the workings of the cart. :)
I had an eye problem several years ago, and as a result, my eyes tire easily when I'm using the computer -- increasing the size of the text one size in Internet Explorer or Firefox (at my eye doctor's suggestion) seems to allow me to be on the computer a lot longer without having any problems with my vision.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Brenda,
The font is bigger in v4. Also, you can increase the size by making a small change to the CSS document that "styles" the Control Panel. It sounds like you are about to upgrade to v4. Do that, then see if you need a bigger font. If so, post back here and we'll tell you what to do. |

Wonderful news - thank you for the prompt reply!
If all goes well, I'll be doing the v4 upgrade today, and have already downloaded and unzipped the files and printed out the upgrade instructions so I can follow them step by step (as I did in the 3.05 to 3.11 and 3.11 to 3.51 upgrades that went without a hitch!).
We'll see what the text size is in 4, and I'll post back if it's still not large enough. Thanks again for such a great product! My customers have been VERY happy to hear that in 2010, their shopping carts will be saved. :)
Happy New Year!

Whew! Upgrade is finished, and a test order shows that the cart is working properly. What a great way to end the year!! The text size IS a little bit bigger in the Control Panel, but not as large as I used to have it.... so I would really appreciate it if you would let me know how to modify that. I do spend most of the day on the computer, so anything simple that lets me do so without strain on my eyes is greatly appreciated.
Great job on v4, Team ProductCart!

Hi Brenda,
The file you want to look at is : pcv4_ControlPanel.css Take a backup and then modify the font sizes to suit your needs. The Firefox "web developer" add on is great for this. You can edit the CSS "on the fly" and see what happens, then save the amended CSS file and upload it. Once the web developer add-on is installed hit Ctrl+shift+E to view & edit the CSS files. |
