How can a customer gift a downloadable product?

   We sell CDs and some downloadable MP3s, and we've had customers ask how they can purchase the downloadable MP3s as a gift for someone else. Their goal is to pay for the item but let the gift recipient download it. (In other words, the customer doesn't want to download the MP3 and put it on a flash drive and hand it to the gift recipient, because that would be sort of tacky. Or at least it seems more tacky to them than sending the recipient a link via email.) 

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this with ProductCart?

Right now, it doesn't seem feasible because the customer has to login to his/her account in the store to download the files after buying them. Customers don't want to have to share their login/password info with the gift recipients just to let the recipients download the files themselves. Is there any way around this problem, or any alternate solution someone can recommend? (Buying a gift certificate isn't an option in this particular situation.)
