Our SEO person asked if I would turn 302 redirects into 301 redirects. I'm wondering if this will mess anything up in product cart. Here are a couple of examples of what he would like me to change. Any input is appreciated.
Example 1: 302 redirect: http://www.mostlychocolate.com/store/pc/custpref.asp make into 301 redirect to: http://www.mostlychocolate.com/store/pc/Checkout.asp?cmode=1 Example 2: 302 redirect: http://www.mostlychocolate.com/store/pc/instPrd.asp?idproduct=1&pSubscriptionID=0 make into 301 redirect to: http://www.mostlychocolate.com/store/pc/viewCart.asp?cs=1 Thanks Again, Stephanie |

It makes sense to do a 301 redirect if its a permanent redirect. If you have no plans to remove the redirect then you make it a 301. 301 means permanent redirect. For custpref.asp redirect in your example it is the correct url... the redirect happens because a customer has to login first before they can view that page... so I wouldn't mess with that... and the instprd.asp redirect happens when adding to cart and it's necessary. I wouldn't mess with any of those.

Don't redirect either page! Your SEO person doesn't seem to understand what those pages are.
