Hello,
moving my websites and Product Cart to a dedicated server. They provide MSSQL 2008 Server Express for free. Will Product Cart function on this or do I need to buy a full version of MSSQL 2008? Thank you, Gary |

It will work fine. You can just backup the database then restore in 2008.

I'm going to debate that one by referring to Mark's post in 2010. I really trust Mark's judgment on database issues.

Do not run your ProductCart store on an SQL Express database. Please refer to my earlier posting that Greg mentioned.
SQL Express is a development database only! Know this advice not only comes from several Certified ProductCart Developers such as myself, Greg, and others, but also from Early Impact and Microsoft's own recommendations as can be seen in their DB Comparison chart. Although Express is built on the same SQL engine it is absolutely not the same database as the full version and is far too limiting to be run as a production DB. Please open a private conversation with either Greg or myself and we will explain in detail. |
