Hello All,
We are getting duplicated entries of google indexing on our page. All rewrite rules have been disabled. We are getting this: http://www.domain.com/productcart/productcart/productcart/productcart/pc/p988.htm http://www.domain.comproductcart/productcart/productcart/pc/p988.htm http://www.domain.com/productcart/productcart/pc/p988.htm http://www.domain.com/oroductcart/pc/p988.htm Thanks. |

we can't help without a link. You might want to start by using XENU link checker to see what's hosed in your navigation, which is probably where the problem starts.

Apologies. Here are the actual links:
www.rothemcollection.com http://www.rothemcollection.com/productcart/productcart/productcart/productcart/pc/p988.htm http://www.rothemcollection.com/productcart/productcart/productcart/pc/p988.htm http://www.rothemcollection.com/productcart/productcart/pc/p988.htm http://www.rothemcollection.com/productcart/pc/p988.htm There are no other /productcart directory inside the main /productcart folder. |

In reviewing your links, it appears that your store code is altered. I state this because the URLs to products and categories are formatted differently than stock functionality would produce. For example, this category page http://www.rothemcollection.com/productcart/pc/c415.htm would normally contain a reference to "Anniversary Bands". In the process of your mods, you may have introduced code that is causing this problem. If you have a page that is located in the productcart folder, and contains a relative URL reference to that folder that is not preceded by a "/", then you would end up with a double reference to productcart, and thus your problem. You have other issues. Again, I recommend you download and run the FREE XENU link sleuth program. By running it against your store, I found links such as this: In the rendered source of that page is this: <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.rothemcollection.com/pc/p1929.htm" /> <link rel="image_src" href="http://www.rothemcollection.com/pc/catalog/" /> Note that the productcart folder reference is missing from those links. I don't believe stock code will behave this way, at least not the more recent versions. I hope this will provide to you somewhere to start looking for issues within your site. What version store code is this running?

Hi, this thread covers a very similar issue : http://forum.productcart.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3390&PN=1&title=rewrite-away-pcs-subdirectories

Hamish - not sure how that applies as it does not appear that they tried to ditch the productcart folder intentionally. What it appears is that they tried to alter the naming convention of the SEO-friendly page name, keeping the c415.htm, but eliminating the actual keywords.
In that process they have hosed their canonical URL references, and probably introduced some malformed product page URLs.
