I've been running my 2.76 cart for quite a while and it's been working fine, until the recent changes to the USPS site and now the shipping is calculating incorrectly.  EI has provided more support for this old version than I would have expected, so I have no complaints.

I've searched the forum and there doesn't seem to be much conversation about upgrade troubles, so is it safe to assume its just a couple of hour project?  My 2.76 cart has had no changes other than the header.asp and footer.asp, but the whole site is built around the cart.  Will all the links keep working after the upgrade? How about all the spacing, layouts, etc?

I know there are a lot more features in 3.11 but really the only one I need is the shipping to calculate correctly.  So when its all said and done how much time should I budget for a simple upgrade?

TIA

I recently performed a 2.x upgrade to 2.76, then all the way (multiple steps) to 3.11 and it generally went smoothly.

There was one  hiccup where the database update didn't seem to synch up correctly, but support sent a zip containing a series of db upgrade scripts.  All I had to do was run them sequentially and the upgrade was back on track.  The whole process took just  under 3 hours.

And yes, product links and such worked fine.

If you have tailored pages other than the header/footer, those will need to be reapplied.  But the header/footer files are not in the upgrade package so those do not get over-written.

Hi Dean,

We've upgraded about 15 PC sites from 2.x to 3.11 and it has been pretty smooth. You will need to perform several upgrades as there is no direct path to 3.11. You would do something like: 2.76 -> 3.03 -> 3.04 -> 3.051 -> 3.11. Each update requires that you download a zip file, unzip it, FTP the files to your server, login to your control panel so the update can then update your database. Then you download the next update, install it and update your database, etc. for each update.

In our experience it can take about an hour or two to run through all the updates. It may take you a little longer since you don't run the updates regularly.

You should read the PDF document about updating your site from 2.x to 3.x:

There are changes that need to be applied to you header.asp including adding a link to a new CSS file. That CSS file may change some of the styles on the content area of your site so be prepared to tweak that to match your site.

You should backup your pc/include-metatags.asp, pc/ordercomplete.asp and includes/languages.asp file if you made changes to those as they are all overwritten.

I hope that helps.
