We have a parent and child site using separate installations of Product Cart. There's a private SSL on the parent domain and I'm curious if there is a way to use it on the child site as well.

that's probably a question for your SSL issuer. There are "wildcard" SSL certs, but without knowing what your domain names are, I'm not going to try to answer beyond that.

You can get ssl from godaddy for $5 a year. just search godaddy coupons. If by child site you mean subdomain... then you need a wildcard ssl or just buy a new one.
