Thanks very much for ANY & ALL HELP on this :)
Our Background: This is our 5th website in HTML only and our second attempt at a shopping cart, the first time we tried it for bettiesfashions was with Prestashop and we hated it!!! Hence why we are here, We have a good understanding of HTML and CSS, we built our whole website on it. however; we are not experts in ASP or JavaScript. That said, we do know how to find and edit any of the JavaScript, CSS and ASP pages if you can guide us how and what to do!!! On our default.htm page www.bettiesfashions.com, at the top right area of the page we have shopping cart information. (nothing more than just an image of a dog & cart and text - designed just how our client wanted it) We need help on how to tell Product Cart (to update) the # of items and Sub-Total information. For example, this is done on one of the following website samples listed on ProductCart: http://www.captainjacksalaska.com/seafood/pc/wild-alaskan-salmon-c3.htm?atc=1&idproduct=2 As you can see from the Captain Jacks Alaska site, their home page is HTML; yet, their header cart summary is updated every time you purchase a new item. We have reviewed the code from Captain Jacks very carefully but we still cant figure out how it is being done. we submitted a ticket with a few questions with some help & answers from Early Impact... below is what Hamish suggested we do so that is why we are posting this here (Thanks Hamish) :) :) FYI: I don't know what an "ISAPI rewrite" is but I will be studying it hard tonight and as long as it takes for me to understand it!!! Answer from Hamish @ Early Impact: That website (Captain Jacks Alaska) is by Greybeard design. Looking at the page, especialy it's source, I suspect they may be using a technique such as an ISAPI rewrite to "disguise" the asp page. I expect, if you drop them an email, or especially if you ask on the forum (which they are very active on) they will be able to confirm how they have achieved this. It looks like they are using a customized version of the "small shopping cart" http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/how_to/add_shopping_cart_summary ***-->HUGE thanks for any help figuring this out :) Best Regards, Tony States |
