Does anyone have experience with Guest Checkout that they could share? I have a regular customer who forgot her password, and she's not receiving the e-mails sent through the cart with her password (not surprising since she's an AOL address - customers with Yahoo addresses seem to have that same problem!).
She placed an order yesterday using Guest Checkout, and said that she did not receive the promised e-mail with instructions on how to merge the two accounts (to consolidate the Rewards Points earned), either. I checked the Wiki, and the section on merging accounts and working with the guest accounts is not active. :( Can we manually merge accounts on the customer's behalf? Seems to me that we used to be able to consolidate more than one account together (for example, if a customer had two accounts under different e-mail addresses). Or can someone post the instructions on how she can merge them herself so I can share them with her? Thanks in advance! Brenda Sievers Oak Court Creations .... a very happy ProductCart user! |

Hi Brenda,
Let's address the issues separately: - Email Not Sent: if the store sends other emails successfully, then the e-mails are definitely being sent. They may not receive the customer because of AOL's SPAM filters, although we have never seen those emails being labeled as SPAM in our tests. - Consolidating: they can consolidate their account even if they did not receive the e-mail alert to do so. They simply need to log in with their e-mail and Order Code, then use the link at the bottom of the page. - Consolidating in the Control Panel: yes, you can consolidate accounts in the Control Panel, but you should first switch the "Guest" account to a "Registered" account. You can do so on the "Edit Customer" page. Once they are both "Registered" accounts, you can move all orders under one account. We will double-check the WIKI and see why the documentation on this feature is not live. We certainly apologize for the inconvenience. Best Regards, Edited by earlyimp - 25-January-2010 at 2:00pm |
