Hello all,
I'm importing products from ZenCart and I need to make sure all the information transfers correctly. Does anyone know which fields in ZenCart map to ProductCart fields, or where I can find this information? This would be a huge help; thank you in advance! |

I don't have the exact fields any longer but when I converted a ZC store to PC it wasn't that difficult. IIRC I believe 2 ZC tables contained the product data and after exporting the MySQL database tables to .XLS it was just a matter of concatenting the data from the two tables into the single import spreadsheet.

Greg, thanks for the help. I think I have the fields mapped out now, but I'm having trouble importing categories.
I got the category names from the categories_descriptions table in ZenCart, but whenever I try to import them (I tried names and short description first, then just names) I get an error from product cart. The problem is that for some reason I can only see the top part of that yellow triangle with the exclamation point in it, and there's no description of the problem. The page is productcart/pcadmin/techErr.asp?err=473838386-125418, I don't know if that error number at the end helps. What could be going wrong? Should I be doing this through product import rather than category import? Thanks again. |

That error is likely recorded in the error log - see the help menu in the admin. It's pretty tough to try to debug this sort of issue without being personally involved and looking at the data. Might want to submit a support request.
OTOH, and some others will do this differently, but I tend to have the client manually prepare their category structure ahead of product import. That way you know it is set correctly and might not fool around trying to get the category import done. That may not be what one wants to do with a lot of categories, but it's your call.

Ok, I didn't want to manually manipulate the data so it all matched, but I did do that and it worked. I gave up on the category import and did that through the product import. Thanks for the advice, it definitely shortened the project for me.
One thing I'm stuck on now, which hopefully is a much simpler problem, is that the previous cart didn't have category images. Is there a setting to have categories use an image from a product in that category for its thumbnail? Thanks again. |

Not really. Each category has it's own distinct images and each need to be set individually.
Now that your categories are created, might want to export them - set the images names - and re-import.
