Just out of the blue I've noticed that i can't log into the control panel. It will not let me pass the users agreement. I have deleted the cookies in all our browsers and still nothing. I can get it it only on one computer running windows xp and using Safari but no other browser works (Firefox and Internet Explorer). I found the same problem in the FAQ section but it wasn't very helpful.

It may be folder permission issues. Not sure though.

Hi Ronad,
Is there a hyphen or similar character in the URL? I've seen this before when that is the case. On that occasion the fix was to change the folder name so there was no longer a hyphen in the URL. Not sure if that will be an option for you though, it depends on your setup. |

Hi Ronad, I deleted your post as it's "a bad idea" to share the control panel on the open web - It just invites the curious or the malicious to come and try and get in. Security by obscurity is no bad thing, not that the code relies on it in any way, it's just better not to have the bad guys banging on your door :-)

thats cool I figured that would happen. Just wanted to give you and idea of the situation. I opened up a support ticket so hopefully I can get this issue resolved. I find it weird that nobody else has had this problem.

FWIW I am seeing the same issue that Ronad reports. Cannot get past license screen in IE.

I have seen this too on a couple of stores, one of which had no hyphen or other character. The maddening thing is that it works fine on some computers & browsers, and not on others, with no discernible pattern that I can see.
On one of them, the merchant can log in just fine; however, I can't except for in IE on my Vista. On the other store, the merchant couldn't get in on any computer or browser, while I was able to get in on some combinations. For this store I just ended up making the login screen skip over checking to see if the EULA has been agreed to (sorry). |

Hi Folks,
Here's an edited version of the reply to the ticket - so that you can check if this is the scenario you are also encountering : "The problem that you are experiencing is that there is an extra "hidden" folder in the path to your Web site. If you look at the actual URL in the 'cookie' that is placed on your local system by the Web server, it reads as follows: www.yourdomain.com/extradir/store/youradmin Notice that their is a folder/directory under the Root named "extradir" that does not show up in the URL when browsing your store or site. You will need to contact your Web hosting company and ask them to move your Web site to the actual Root directory... or you can ask them to update the DNS to point to the "extradir" folder as the Root." |

While I don't have the "extra directory" think goin on, I do believe that the issue must be related to properly setting and reading cookies.
Could you provide us a simple way to response.write the value of the cookie? I just don't have time to look at it, as it hasn't been that big of a deal. |

I currently have a store which does not have the extra folder name, but is experiencing the same issue - cannot get past the license agreement screen.
This store was just upgraded to v4. v4 is running in a seperate folder, along with v3 in the other folder, so it can be reviewed/tested.
