Clearly, any time you have mods in a store, the upgrade to a new version - and upgrading to v4 is no exception - takes more time than upgrading a totally stock store.  But the demo stores where I installed the mod went smoothly, and an upgrade from v3.51 should be seamless.

The names of the db fields for the tabbed content are renamed in this release, but beyond that, it's just a matter of dropping the pages into the site.  And sense EI has integrated the SEO mod into the base code (thank goodness!), the tabbed mod install involves fewer files, and fewer steps.  I think you will be pleased.
