We run ProductCart v3.51b. The size of the MSsql database became too large for the shared database sever so we moved it to our VPS. Now that we moved it, two problems have developed.
We think they're somehow linked since they deal with some kind of latent authorization process. Problem #1: It takes minutes to login to the admin panel. In fact, we have to wait five minutes or so for the browser page to ultimately time-out then hit our back button twice to begin running the admin console (what a pain). Problem #2: The Paypal Standard payment option processes about 1 out of 10 orders now. All paypal customers get charged and Paypal sends all the right info back to productcart but only 1 out of 10 orders complete allowing the customer to download their order. The other 9 orders just show incomplete and we have to manually fulfill. Bot of these issues only appeared when we moved the database and they both seem to be some kind of ProductCart authorization process that's getting hung to the point of timing out. Can anyone help us with this? thank you!

Did you only change the database? The issues you are having seem unrelated to the database. Please open a support ticket so that we may investigate things more closely.

Yes - all we did was move the database - nothing more. The site won't allow me to open a ticket - states that my Productcart license is no longer supported without paying $195.00.

The support policy changed back in Sept 2009. Please see http://www.earlyimpact.com/newsletter/09.14.09.htm We used to charge for major upgrades, but now they are included in the support and updates plan.If you have already purchased the plan and are for some reason still unable to access the support system please send me a PM. |

Is the database in a different datacenter to your productcart files? That would certainly cause it to slow down.

Ok, so if I were to pay the $195.00, my ProductCart version could be upgraded to the current (stable) version? Also, if I were to do this, would I be able to use the free install and hosting special currently running?

Did you move just the database? If yes, that's definitely what is causing the latency.
